The University of Castilla-La Mancha has been one of the basic institutions that has formed the backbone of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha since it was launched in 1985. This integrating capacity provides a good opportunity for defining a regional strategy for sustainable economic development.

Social and economic development is closely linked to the capacity of a given region or country to diversify its energy sources in order to reduce external dependence through more efficient use of fossil fuels and the use of local resources, all with the smallest possible impact on the environment.

Following the guidelines of the Call ICE 2011, the project has several policy proposals for each of the areas covered:

  • Teaching Improvement.
  • Scientific Improvement.
  • Transformation of the Campus.

Specifically, 12 activities based on the strengths which are resultant of the project. It aims for actions in which the campus is highly distinctive.

It should be noted that the UCLM ICE 2011 shows no stable addition to another Spanish university, for it is an example of a Spanish territorial University that invested in the development of Castilla-La Mancha in a single public college.

The strategic aggregation for consolidating the UCLM ICE refers to the 8 institutions and companies that form the CYTEMA Foundation:

    • UPEC: Paris-Est Créteil University.
    • TU/e: Eindhoven Technological University.
    • UAEU: United Arab Emirates University.

  • CNH2: National Centre of Hydrogen and Fuel Pile Technologies Experimentation.
  • ISFOC: Institute of Photovoltaic Concentration Systems.
  • INDRA.
  • PCYTA: Foundation of the Science and Technology Park of Albacete.

The CEI project Energy and Environment Science and Technology Campus -CYTEMA- has received funding from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport -MECD- under the strengthening aid program 2010 and 2011, for some activities in this project. Specifically, the activities to be funded by the MECD were the following:
