The University Strategy for 2015 aims to place the University at the center of a changing social and productive model based on the knowledge triangle: education, research and innovation. In this context and according to the strong commitment to promote excellence, the University of Castilla-La Mancha attended the announcement made by the Ministry of Education with an ambitious project that seeks excellence in the education binomial – edge research, which is accompanied by increasing transfer capacity. On October 27, 2011, the project CYTEMA-Energy and Environment Science and Technology Campus, was recognized by the General Secretary of Universities, with a rating of “Campus of International Excellence” at a regional scope (CIE).

CYTEMA is a UCLM bet in teaching, research and knowledge transfer in Energy and Environment, huge fields of current and future relevance in both socio-economic policies and at a national and European level in which, despite its relevance, it is still necessary to strengthen significantly the formative aspects facing the international community. This project took advantage of the strengths in R+D energy and environment within our University, in which we have a fortnight of research institutes, more than fifty research groups and over five hundred researchers that address the theme of Energy and the Environment from the field of engineering, experimental sciences, the social sciences and law, architecture, arts and humanities and health sciences. We also have the collaboration of two leading European universities in this area such as the Paris-Est Creteil University and the Technical University of Eindhoven, leading companies like ELCOGAS, INDRA and SOLARIA and unique institutions like the National Center for Experimentation Hydrogen Technologies and Fuel Cells (CNH2) and the Institute of Concentration Photovoltaic Systems (ISFOC) and the Science and Technology Park of Albacete (PCYTA). This will integrate the existing capacities in the public centers and businesses and will establish stable and efficient links between the public and private sectors, as well as a better international positioning of the UCLM and close cooperation on R&D as well as in the highly qualified training, contributing to the strategic objective of CYTEMA: positioning the University of Castilla-La Mancha as a European benchmark in science and technology and environmental energy in 2020.

The project, which initially included 12 actions and summary information which is collected on this website has received partial funding for some action by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports-MECD-calls for aid in building 2010 and 2011 and the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness in the INNOCAMPUS. Additionally, due to the State Law and Financial Sustainability Fiscal Stability, the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha was unable to run the loan granted by the ministry for the partial financing of the project. This remarkable reduction in the funding received, has made necessary a review of the activities to be developed. However, through this website the activities and actions that are carried out in our University Campus under the Science and Technology Energy and Environment are shown, seeking excellence through a strong relationship with the environment, by promoting research into the international border and the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
