The project vision CYTEMA summarizes the idea of the University of Castilla-La Mancha as a European benchmark in science and technology and environmental energy in 2020, with a clear mission: to turn UCLM in a campus academic and scientific excellence recognized internationally for its ability to integrate people and organizations on energy and the environment.

In this sense, the UCLM bet is to enhance “selectively” the many lines of research currently conducted Institutes, centers and energy and environmental groups headed by researchers at the University. And it does so through the creation of different programs of innovation and talent, in turn allowing the enhancement or the design and implementation of R&D programs with highly competitive with international collaboration.

The actions proposed in the CYTEMA project are part of strategic plans conversion as International Campus of Excellence and are designed to promote international excellence in science and innovation. These shares are included in the proceedings established by the MICINN as likely to be financed by art.4. (CIN/2035/2010 Order 26th July). The 4 key actions that make the project, the first referring to the creation and implementation of excellent programs for R&D is funded by the MINECO through INNOCAMPUS 2010 program and are described here.

Creation and implementation of R&D PROGRAMMES OF EXCELLENCE

One of the objectives of the action is to concentrate efforts on multidisciplinary R&D Programmes of Excellence (RDPE), reflecting the strategic focus of excellence. The Campus of Excellence will promote a selective investigation around 5 Energy and Environment RDPE, highly competitive for the scientific objectives imposed.

PEID1. NATURAL RESOURCES: SUSTAINABILITY AND EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT. Set of 6 performances.

PEID2. ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY INNOVATION: TOWARDS A NEW SOCIAL/PRODUCTION MODEL. Set of 10 performances.

PEID3. ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE. Set of 12 performances.

PEID4. GREEN IT: THE ENVIRONMENTAL COMPROMISE OF THE INFORMATION SOCIETY

PEID5. HYDROGEN ECONOMY AND ENGINEERING: THE FUTURE ENERGY ALTERNATIVE. Set of 4 performances.

Each of the RDPE will be led by one or more scientific institutes and by various UCLM Research groups, who will work together with institutions and groups from other countries. The scientific richness can provide the diversity of groups and institutes, national and international, working together in a single program, enhances the viability and originality of the results and the ability to transmit media to the scientific and the business world.

SIGIEM: in especially highlights the implementation of the INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH MANAGEMENT (SIGIEM). One of the most important elements for the efficient management of energy and the environment is to have the necessary information, in quantity and quality, and make the various stakeholders (individuals and institutions) able to take the best decisions when developing their duties. It is proposed to develop an Information System for Management and Energy and Environmental Research, combining different computing technologies and methodologies.
